This is the pre-conference site for the "Transforming the Professoriate: Preparing Women for Academic Careers in Science and Engineering" Conference to be hosted by AdvanceVT from July 20 - 22, 2006 at the Skelton Conference Center in Blacksburg, Virginia.

This site will feature resources that you can use to refine your portfolio including tips on how to create an effective resume and Curriculum Vitae (CV). You will be able to learn more about the Transforming the Professoriate: Preparing Women for Academic Careers in Science and Engineering conference and Virginia Tech. We will also be including a forum that you can use to interact with other conference attendees and the conference planning committee

Mission Statement

The goal of this conference is to

  1. provide female graduate students in science and engineering with the tools to plan for a successful career in academia, with a special emphasis on women of color and

  2. serve as a preliminary faculty recruitment effort
by providing a forum for exposing nationally-competitive senior female doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers from around the United States to Virginia Tech's science and engineering programs.
