Interviews were conducted annually for three years with the new faculty members in the Colleges of Science and Engineering hired in 2003. This study examines the factors influencing new science and engineering faculty in their decision to come to Virginia Tech and also examines what issues are most important to these new faculty members and how those issues change over the first three years of their faculty appointment..

Longitudinal Findings
A poster comparing the experiences of these new faculty by gender was presented at the 2008 American Educational Research Association meeting, and a paper describing the changes in faculty experiences over the first three years of their appointment at Virginia Tech was presented at the 2008 American Society for Engineering Education conference.
